Dyer Ives Poetry Reading
June 6, 2015
"Readings from the student division included Katie Dooley, Patricia Schlutt and Kelsey May. May says this was her first time ever being invited to a reading, and did not expect such a large turn out. May recited a poem named "Burdens on a Wednesday morning at a restaurant on the way to Alabama." The poem highlight[s] racial tension that still exists in 2015."

“Love, love, love your writing! I actually see glimmers of sixth grade with references to color emotions and "I remember..." You obviously have a strong desire to reflect on social issues. I commend you for being actively engaged and striving to make a difference. Words can bring about change and I'm proud of you!”
